Why Play?

We mainly use a play modality when working with children and teens because sometimes deep processing occurs much more easily through expression with toys, music, or art compared to words. Children's brains have difficulty explaining feelings or complex thoughts through words. It is much easier to communicate through play.

That's what we specialize in.

We are trained to look for certain patterns in play and how to support children while they process these emotions. We support children and teens as they learn how effective they can be at regulating themselves. We also help them teach themselves coping skills that work for them.

Through this process, they are able to learn they're own abilities, feel more confident, understand more about themselves, and use their own strategies.

Main Methods

SCFC primarily uses play, art, music, or other expressive modalities to help children and teens communicate what is most important but sometimes what is difficult to verbally explain.
